5 Ways You Can Help Missouri Tornado Victims

Whether you read it online, saw it on Twitter or heard about it on the morning news, by now you probably know that Joplin, Missouri, was devastated by a tornado Sunday night. With at least 90 deaths reported, this is one of the most shattering storms southwestern Missouri has ever seen.
Needless to say, residents of Joplin are in need of help. Below are a few quick ways that you can lend a hand:
- Visit Joplin, MO Tornado Recovery on Facebook to send messages of hope, get details about where you can help and connect with other volunteers.
- Donate via Kansas City’s KMBC 9 telethon. The number will be released at 5:00pm CDT tonight both on the KMBC newscast and at KMBC.com. Call between 5 pm and 10:30 pm to make your donation.
- Licensed emergency and medical officials can volunteer their services by emailing the local Red Cross chapter for Joplin at volunteerservices@redcross-ozarks.org or visit https://www.showmeresponse.org.
- Donations of non-perishable food, water, blankets, boxes, and more can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. at Ozarks Technical Community College. Do remember, all donated items must be new.
- Head to Missouri’s State Emergency Management Agency’s website for details on how to assist both in the short and long term.
