Fall is here: Football Rivalries and The Do’s and Don’ts of Tailgating
Football season is in full swing, and that means a few things: rivalries and tailgating. This coming weekend the USC Trojans travel all the way to South Bend, Indiana, for a battle against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The weekend after that we’ll see the Florida Gators try to repeat last year’s win over the Georgia Bulldogs. Rivalries like these are one of the greatest parts of football.

The other greatest part of football is tailgating. Spending all day with thousands of your closest friends, cheering for a team that you love, is one of the best ways to spend a Saturday. If you’re going to be tailgating, though, it’s important to remember a few things:
Do Be a Good Sport
Football is about competition and rivalries, but also sportsmanship. You should definitely hassle your friends who are cheering for the other team, but do so without being mean or rude. Don’t make it personal—you’re cheering for (or against) a team, not the individual fans.
Don’t Be a Mooch
If you’ve been invited to a tailgate, don’t just mooch off the others that are there. Bring along a cooler with your favorite beverages and a side dish. If your tailgate host is adamant that they’ve got it covered, bring along a fun tailgating game or #1 foam fingers for all the guests.
Do Bring an Extra Battery for Your Phone
Between calling friends to taunt their team and checking the scores for other games, you’re smartphone battery is going to dwindle.
Bring along an extra battery, like the Mobius rechargeable case, to rejuvenate your phone. The last thing you want is to miss the opportunity to shoot video during your storming of the field.
Don’t Leave the Football at Home
Yea, you might not use it. However, when someone has that great idea to “toss the pigskin,” you’ll be glad you brought it along.
Do Prepare Food Ahead of Time
The only cooking that should be done at a tailgate involves meat and a grill. Otherwise, prepare it at home so there’s nothing to worry about come game day.
Don’t Forget the Music
What’s a tailgate without music? Boring, that’s what. A music player like the Soulra XL (which can charge via the sun, keeping your music playing all day) is the perfect addition to any tailgate. Simply plug in your iPod and your tunes will be flowing. Need some suggestions for your playlist? We recommend We are the Champions by Queen, The Eye of the Tiger by Survior and, of course, your school song.
What additional tailgating tips do you have?
