Taking Your Travels to the Green Extreme

Going green is something that takes time and dedication. Generally, people start going green by incorporating eco-friendly habits like recycling into their daily routines. It’s great to go green in a small way, but we want to suggest that you do it in a big way: by greening your vacation!

It’s easier than you may think to go green on vacation, but our best suggestion is to choose a location known for it’s green initiatives. Here are a few of our favorites:

Green vacationing

Kaikoura, New Zealand

Kaikoura offers a number of green activities provided by the locals as part of their Green Globe 21 tourism certificate. Offerings include wilderness walks, tree planting days, and the chance to see endangered dolphins up close and personal.

green vacations

Glacier Bay, Alaska

Part of a chain of glaciers spanning the United States and Canada, Glacier Bay is a massive 24 million acres, and is the largest protected area in the world. Glacier Bay is a great way to see the environment in a very atypical, almost pre-historical setting.

Dubai

A great place to stay is the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. Founded in the 1960’s, the reserve protects over 33 species of mammals and reptiles, including the endangered Arabian oryx.

Going green on your vacation is a great way to make a real impact on the environment, especially since many of these trips allow travelers to volunteer during their trip.
