BCS Championship Tailgating Safety Tips
The time has come and the end of college football is here. On Monday, LSU and Alabama will meet again to fight for the National Championship title. The teams will travel to New Orleans, Louisiana, to battle for the Coaches’ Trophy.

Whether you’re cheering for the Tigers or the Tide (or just football in general), you’re probably gearing up for the final hoorah in college football tailgating this season. As you prepared to cheer, grill and taunt, make sure you take a few steps to ensure it’s a safe tailgate, too.
- Pack two coolers: one for food and one for drinks. This was food is kept safe while only the drink cooler is continuously opened.
- Use plastic bowls, plates and cups, instead of glass ones. This avoids the hazards that broken glass presents.
- Invest in a meat thermometer to ensure all the meat is cooked thoroughly. No one wants to miss the game due to a bad burger!
- Use hand sanitizer or anti-bacterial wipes after cooking.
- Have a fire extinguisher on hand.
- Bring a well-stocked first aid kit for any minor injuries.
- Check the weather before you leave home—and come prepared. As of now, it’s looking to be a pretty nice day in New Orleans!
- Don’t forget a radio—with one like the Axis, you can listen to the pre-game show, charge your phone and be alerted if any severe weather pops up.
Who are you cheering for on Monday?
