With the spring weather just around the corner (well, fingers crossed), it’s almost time for you and your kids to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. There is nothing better than the little ones being able to play out in the yard after being cooped up inside all winter long. We have put together some great game ideas for you to enjoy with your children to ring in the spring weather.

outside spring activities

Blind walk. Have kids create an obstacle course in the yard and let them get familiar with it. One at a time, blindfold a child and let him or her navigate their way through the course. Keep tally of each contestant’s time. The child with the fastest time wins.

Paint tag. Hide 5 different colors of paint and brushes in the yard. (Each color should be hidden in a separate location). The object of this game is to get one streak of every color on your face. However, if you are tagged, the tagger gets to erase one of your color streaks. The first person to have all of the color streaks wins.

Batty bowling. Collect items to act as bowling pins such as empty milk cartons, candlesticks, dolls, plastic cups, etc. Put all of the items in a triangle like bowling pins. Give each child a tennis ball, soccer ball, or basketball, to try to knock over all of the items.

Outdoor canvas. Lay an old sheet on the grass or hang it up on the fence and allow the kids to paint whatever they would like on this. This can also be turned into a game by giving the kids a picture to create in a certain amount of time.

Big foot relay. Each child will need two empty shoeboxes. Cut a slit on the lid of the shoe box and tape the lid to the box. Each kid sticks there feet in the shoes boxes. The kid who can get to the finish line first wins.
