Spring Decorating: Renovating Furniture and Décor the Green Way

Maybe spring hasn’t quite sprung, but the 2013 groundhog (Punxsutawney Phil, if you must know) did predict an early spring this year.

With that in mind, you may be thinking home renovations and décor. We pulled a few of our favorite tips for green decorating from Pinterest.

These handmade, environmentally friendly, organic lights are both pleasant and pleasant to the earth. Lovely for adding a romantic glow to any spring party, whether indoor or outdoor.

Instead of buying new storage in the form of plastic, use recycled cans for kids’ storage units or for anything in your kitchen. Glass jars are also a useful solution.

Begin using CFL bulbs instead of traditional lightbulbs! Simply upgrading the lightbulbs in your home will go a long way to go greener and provide more of a “natural spectrum” of light.

Instead of purchasing new furniture, renovate something you already have. This saves money along with your environmental footprint.

Happy spring cleaning and decorating! As you’re working on your spring decoration projects, we hope you’ll keep these green tips in mind, and enjoy some music from a solar-powered sound system while you’re at it. If you have any extra green décor tips, share them with us in the comments.
